Being a long time Glen fan ( since 87). I am having a difficult time enjoying Glen and his band live. Don’t get me wrong I do love the music and the quartet is tight but I feel they are missing something. After seeing them live 4 times since Glen left Styx I have come to the conclusion that he needs another guitar player to fill in the gaps and make his sound more ambient.
Boy do i miss Glen Playing the Harp live. 신용카드현금화

Any thoughts.

Just for the record this is not Bashing Glen and his band just some general thougths from a long time knuckleHead.

Hi Glen,

I watch the bonus dvd disc every time that I treadmill…..It’s the perfect length by the way, anything longer and I would fall off the thing dead.
Anyway, I noticed that you play guitar both right and lefthanded in the KYAG video. Are you really an ambidextrous guitar player or was that all done with smoke and mirrors? 신용카드현금화

I love Welcome to Hollywood, thanks for that. And I’ll be making the trip up from Maryland to the Rahway show. I can’t wait to hear some of the stuff live. I vote for a Beatles song too…. but that’s just me. Anything you play would be great…………. See you there.

Lisa,

I have a Fender “Jimi Hendrix” model Stratocaster which has all the writing on the headstock REVERSED. Director of the “Kiss Your Ass Goodbye” video, Jerry Heer, wanted to go for shooting me playing that guitar AND REVERSING THE IMAGE. So, the guitarist you see in that video is just a mirror image of what I did (my left appears on the right, etc). It was an effective idea in that it helped give the appearance that it’s a full band in the video. Even the writing on my guitar looks correct.

Thanks for the tip regarding the DVD doubling as a workout video. Perhaps I should consider that line of production next?

See you in Rahway. Careful driving!

>>>>Move the songs that ended in a tie to the next round & have them face off against other songs. If it does not leave an even amount, give the top vote getters in each bracket a bye until the next round.<<<<

Ya know, I was the score keeper for the wrestling team in high school for 3 years and we had to deal with the brackets in tournaments often.
I was trying to remember how the whole ” bye ” thing worked. I’m glad you made it so simple. 신용카드현금화

That seems like the logical way to do it ….

Singer/songwriter Glen Burtnik will stage his 16th annual Xmas Xtravaganza Dec. 10 at the State Theatre in his hometown of New Brunswick, N.J. In previous years, the multi-artist show has been primarily held in New York, with a cast of special guests that has included Patty Smyth, Phoebe Snow, Marshall Crenshaw, the Patti Smith Band, the B-52s’ Fred Schneider and Mary Lee Kortes, among others. 신용카드현금화

“It’s a celebration of the music of the season, which I’ve always found a magically effective genre,” says Burtnik, who has written songs for Smyth and Randy Travis and was briefly a member of Styx. “Once I realized it was a worthwhile undertaking, I decided it’d be most appropriate to the spirit of the show to give the profit to people in need.”

The upcoming show will benefit the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Tickets priced $20 to $35 go on sale Friday (Nov. 5) at the venue’s box office and Tickets.com.

(Note: Billboard.com articles only run a couple days free of charge before they become “subscription only”.)

Well.. seems like the kiss of death strikes again.

First, MTV decides to close it’s animation studio after 20 years in favor of animating overseas. Of course I was the studio manager, so this left me with not much to do but go look for another job. 출장마사지

After years of finding places that paid me nothing and treated me like crap I found a job working with Stacy’s hubby. Of course, today, after 20 odd years in business, that company declared bankruptcy.

I’d ask if anybody knows of someplace that’s hiring, but unless you used to work there, hated the place, and happen to be seeking rightful vengeance, I’m not so sure you’d want to recommend me. :::sigh:::

I got my admission wristband and walked about 6 steps into the club, where I run into none other than Glen himself. When I said I felt bad about missing Dibs, he told me that they didn’t play. Spiraling was onstage, a few songs into thier set. I went in and chose a spot to stand with a good camera angle and started snapping pix. Then, while still enjoying the show I moved to the other side of the room and used the shelf table to gather a few things out of my concert bag… fliers, clipboard, pens, etc. Once I had everthing ready to roll, I let myself be carried off by the incredible music pouring out of the speakers. 신용카드현금화

Even though I’d seen them play at the Xtravaganza, or with Glen at his shows, this was only my 2nd time seeing a Spiraling gig. Oh sweet stars! Tommy’s skill with the keyboards is beyond brilliant. Marty’s guitarwork is amazing. Paul & Bob create a rhythm section that flows so seemlessly that, in my opinion, could turn a few ‘national’ acts I know green with envy. I am so blown away by this band! I strongly suggest that if it’s possible to be in the area of Sayreville NJ on August 15th, get yourself to the Starland Ballroom in a hurry! They’re having a release party for the new CD ‘Challenging Stage’. This is one band you don’t want to miss! 신용카드현금화

After Spiraling finished, I went over near the stage to wait for Glen to start his set.

I had the opportunity to chat briefly with Spiraling’s guitarist, Marty. What a nice guy! As we were talking, a lady I’d seen at shows before came over. As we got to chatting, I found out that her name was Karen & she is Tommy’s sister. This is one of the things I love about going to see Glen play… I always end up meeting the coolest folks & making new friends! If you go see Spiraling & see a lady with short, dark hair doing some awesome dance moves, be sure to go say hi! Karen rocks! I then got to say hello to my friend Jeff, who was working hard at the console during both sets. Haven’t seen him since Glen’s show at Harry’s Roadhouse a while back, so it was cool to catch up with him. Sending best wishes and good vibes his way for the new assignment Jeff’s starting. Also, I had the pleasure of seeing Rosie Burtnick for a moment. As those of you who’ve met her know, she is a wonderful lady. Always a pleasure to have a chance to say hello. 신용카드현금화

About 10pm Glen took the stage, and I decided to stake out my favorite vantage point at the headliner… front row, to my right, in the space between the first floor amp and the big wall of amps on the side. Glen got onstage..The setlist:

Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough (played solo on an accoustic guitar)
Roses
Here Comes Sally
Another
Bam!
Super Boy
KYAG
Heartbreak Time
Welcome To Hollywood
Cry
Love Is The Ritual
Follow You

I have the feeling I missed a song or 2.. not sure. :-/ I do have the setlist, but there are a bunch of extra songs on it which I’m thinking were either warm up tunes, or extras on standby. I don’t remember them being played. (I’m EXTREMELY curious about “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”, by the way. I don’t recognize this title.) 신용카드현금화

*****************************
For Paul… mysterious-looking codes listed next to each song as ordered above beginning with Roses:

“D” (concert C#)
“A” (concert Ab)
“D” (concert Db)
“Am” (concert Abm)
“D” (concert C#m)
“A” (concert Ab)
“Bm”(concert Bbm)
“D” (concert C#)
“G” (concert F#)
“E” (concert D#)
“B” (concert Bb)

*****************************

During the show, Glen paid homage to Krispy Kreme donuts.. which got me craving one almost instantly. lol He also mentioned that his song ‘Delicious Suprise’ was going to be a single for country artist Jo Dee Messina. A member of the band ‘The Youth Ahead” came up onstage to join them for a double-whammy version of KYAG, and Glen mentioned his new cd.. claiming that his strategy was that you couldn’t buy it.

Well… lol

I will blame what happened next on having so much fun that I didn’t give any thought to speaking out during a concert in progress. I called up to him about NEHrecords.com having it available to buy. When he asked what I said again, I repeated it as clearly as I could. He then spoke it into the mic and asks me “They have it?” When I said yes, he jokes “That’s just a rumor!”.. then that it was true. lol Then he ‘introduced’ me by name to the audience. *blush* LOL At this point, I felt it somewhat prudent NOT to call out a request for Ooga Sha La Bango, Rainbow Day, or Flood Of Tears. ;-D

Before I knew it, this incredibly fun show was coming to a close. I tell y’all honestly.. nights like this pass by WAY too fast. But what a fantastic show!

After the set, I walked around a bit with my fliers and clipboard. Folks I talked to said they enjoyed the show, and I even got to meet a married couple (whose names, sadly, escape me at the moment) that met years ago at one of Glen’s shows. Nice people! A few minutes later, I ran into my dear friends Missy and Jimmy! (Thanks again for the ride home! *hugs*) The white kitkat was heavenly, by the way.. thanks again Missy! 신용카드현금화

Shortly after, Glen took time to stop and chat with me a bit. He signed an LP I’d brought with me, as well as a personal memento from the WTH listening party in Atlanta. (Thank you again for everything!) Before long he had to get his things together, so he went to get that underway. I spoke a bit more with Karen, (and a few more brief words with Glen as he went back and forth lol) as well as Tommy and Marty, and Missy & Jimmy. Then the club pumped up the volume on the house speaker system… which, I’m thinking, was their subtle way of letting us know they wanted to go home. lol

And with that.. one heck of a evening came to a close! I’m so very glad that I managed to get there. Thanks to everyone there for a fun night.

Now… who’s coming to BB Kings on the 25th?

Excellent! Love the music the message.

CRY and ANOTHER – I could see as being singles.

THE MUSE – speaks for itself. WOW! This song would make a great title track for a movie. It is powerful. 신용카드현금화

When I first saw you with Styx in Portsmouth, VA in 2002, I was captivated by your performance. The next day I went to the Styx website to see just who you were and ordered your PALOOKAVILLE CD and have been a fan of your great musical talents ever since.

So needless to say I was excited about the release of WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD. As it goes with all artists and their CD’s, we find one that is so high on our personal chart (PALOOKAVILLE) that we get disappointed with the next release. The sign of a truly talented artist is to keep writing and producing great music, and this you definitely have done and I was not disappointed but inspired.

And YES, in response to your GB Solo Album Update – October 2003. If I were the owner of a record company, having to account for it’s financial success – I would be eager to invest in a talented but previously proven unsuccessful solo artist’s fourth album. Why, because WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD is a spectacular CD and without doubt I strongly believe it would be a money maker if given the chance. The key word here is talented, not middle aged, (your word’s not mine) or previously proven unsuccessfull solo artist.

Thank You for all your wonderful music. I hope for you that others in the business of promoting and playing new releases will do what is right for the artist and the audience and not for their individual pockets. Let all the people decide what should be played not just a few self selected individuals. 신용카드현금화

Stay true to yourself and God Bless.

Glen,

I heard the news about you leaving Styx, and I’m a bit sad, because I won’t get to see you in November in Clearwater. I’m so glad you were in Styx, since I got to hear you and see you in concert, and realise how incredibly talented you are.

I will certainly continue as your fan, will buy your music, and hope very much you’ll make it to Florida to play some shows. If I enjoyed Glen Burtnik in Styx, imagine how much I would enjoy full force, unabridged Glen Burtnik on his own!

Much happiness to ya! 신용카드현금화

Thanks Suzanne! GB informed me that he’d played that recording of YES I CAN for Styx on the tour bus one day. EGAD! I recorded it the week that Cyclorama came out, just to learn the mandolin parts. PURPLE RAIN was recorded so I could learn the guitar parts. 신용카드현금화

I get that “similar voice” thing every now and then – I don’t hear it myself! And I have to admit that it IS a dream of mine to sing with GB (actually even MORE of a dream would be to co-write with him), and although I almost never get nervous anymore, I’m afraid I’d shit my shorts if either of those ever happened.

And if I lived any closer to Florida, CAROUSEL would be singerless – I would steal Zan away from them in a NY second.

Actually.. I’ve had a project underway since Glen’s first episode of The School Of Rock, but my schedule has gotten super crazy of late. Now that I’m not meeting my shadow at the door so much lately, I’m trying to get to it again. My plan is to make mp3 files of Glen’s show.. minus the songs, of course.. and post the clips in the All Things Glen area of my website. I want to wait until I have the clips ready before I ask Glen & Hawk FM about rules/permissions to do it, though. 신용카드현금화

I have a nearly complete (if a bit static-y) collection of his broadcasts. I’m only missing 3: The show that aired the day after Glen’s Atlanta show w/ Rik Emmett, one when I overslept , and one that the end of the tape was eaten by my ancient demon stereo. Last week’s is as good as missed, as you could hear from the mp3 I posted. VERY bad reception.

In the meantime, maybe I can ‘sneak’ an mp3 or 2 on here of a few of my fave moments. Like Glen singing A Day with Green Acres lyrics, or maybe even his quick rendition of Hocus Pocus.. by Focus. Decisions, decisions! lol
